Things we LOVE…
Champaign County Chapter of the Ohio Horsemen’s Council “LOVES“…
…PEOPLE (especially our long-standing, faithful members) and NEWCOMERS!!! We know how to make new folks feel like they’ve been a part of us forEVER … just ask a few of our newer members!! Linda Imke (Pres), Lori Long (V Pres), Pam Caudill (Sec) and Janet Roop (Treas) all KNOW HOW to take care of people first!! Just take ONE day-ride with us or attend one monthly meeting and you’ll be hooked.
…EQUINES of ALL types…and, believe ME…we DO love our “buddies”. Whether on the trail or just sitting around the campfire at one of our camp-outs, we take care of them FIRST, because THEY take care of US on the rides!! We never camp or ride where the comforts of our equines cannot be met, so you’ll never have to “worry” about THAT!!
…RIDING…no matter who we’re with, where we are…our first commitment is ALWAYS to the safety of ALL (people AND equines). We don’t “get crazy” and do stupid things. We are a great group of Horsewomen and men, who are safe and FUN to be on a trail with!! We always have our GPS going, first aid items with us…and someone ALWAYS has a cell phone for emergency use.
…BEING TOGETHER, even without our Equines occasionally (like our annual Christmas Party, lunches out or at someone’s home together, monthly potluck meetings). We have members who are interested in so many different things from getting together for riding, to going out for an occasional lunch at someone’s home together, having dinner together before our monthly meetings…we simply ENJOY being together.
…WORKING TOGETHER…we feel GREAT about maintaining Kiser Lake Bridle Trails!!!!! And we CAN’T stress that ENOUGH. Now, you may not be “able” to help due to health issues (we have members who don’t ride any longer & a few elderly members who perhaps can NOT help with physical trail maintenance), but there is always a way to be a part of trail maintenance (like bringing a package of hot dog buns for lunch for the worker-bees)…check us out to see where you might fit in as a potential member.
…KISER LAKE…we simply feel we have the best trail area all round!! We definitely have the MOST DIVERSE trail riding in one location. In one day you can ride flat meadows, to piney woods, to STEEP up and down terrain, water, wide trails and narrow trails. It’s ALL at Kiser (personally I like to think of Kiser as almost a mini-Hocking Hills in some places)…it’s THAT DIVERSE. And you can “choose” the type of trail you want to ride. Our Executive Board (along with members and their families) have worked diligently and consistently to keep our trails open, moved away from mud and “problem” areas (while those areas “heal” and are restored to “new” again) and generally speaking…they work HARD to keep Kiser Bridle Trails READY FOR RIDING!! We have great maps that make it easy to navigate (thanks again to our dedicated Executive Board and Members), as well as VERY well-marked trails. (I’m “directionally challenged”, but I can ride alone at Kiser and NOT get lost!! AMAZING!!)
So, please come out and give us a try at one of our monthly meetings, check out our site “scheduled” rides and join us, or come to one of our camp-outs with your equine and give Champaign County Chapter of the Ohio Horsemen’s Council a try…you’ll LOVE it…
And please feel free to call or text me (Dee Silliman) any time at 719-659-3024. You’ll find out soooooo much, as I LOVE to talk about Kiser Lake AND Champaign County’s Ohio Horsemen’s Council (OHC) Chapter and how it changed MY life “forever, for the better”!!!
