About Us
Portage County Chapter OHC along with the Northeast Ohio Trail Riders Association (NEOTRA) have joined together to maintain the bridle trails at West Branch State Park. We are a fun, friendly and family-oriented group of horse riders from all over Portage County and nearby Counties, with a variety of riding disciplines and breeds of horses. We enjoy lots of trail riding, camping and socializing at West Branch State Park. We host several fun social events and fundraisers like Valentine’s Bingo Night, Earth Day trail cleaning with lunch, Club Rides, Tack Swap, Weekend camping & pots luck, Poker Run with Silent auction, Scavenger Hunt, Chili Cook Off, and more.
We are a small group and we are proud that our members and volunteers donate close to 850 volunteer hours each year to the maintenance and improvement of the bridle trails at our ‘adopted park’, West Branch State Park. Members and volunteers work diligently throughout the year clearing trails, establishing new re-routes, building and maintaining culverts, cleaning the campground and more. Our goal is to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for all horseback riding visitors

Our meetings are held at Edinburg Township Hall 6856 Tallmadge Road, Rootstown, Ohio 44272 on the Third Wednesday of each month at 7:00 pm. We invite you to join our chapter. In so doing, you will be helping to support the beautiful trails of West Branch State Park, which is filled with water access, rolling hills, wildlife, picnic spots, 8 bridle trails covering 18 miles and a primitive campground with tie lines. Bring your fishing pole & license, canoe or kayak and enjoy the lake after a day of riding. Both OHC Primary Chapter Membership and Secondary (Multiple chapter) Membership forms are available for download from this web page (Please note: there is an additional $15.00 chapter charge to help fund ongoing West Branch State Park bridle trail maintenance projects).

If you prefer not to use the online system to join or renew with our chapter, print our chapter’s membership form (click on blue type) and mail it with payment to the chapter treasurer at the address shown on the form.
If you are a primary member of another chapter and want to be a secondary member of our chapter, you can print a secondary membership form (click on blue type) and mail it to the chapter treasurer. Please refer to the treasurer’s address on the primary membership form and add any chapter charges shown to the secondary membership fee of $3 Individual or $5 Family.
