The ‘Gibby Award’ is an honor given to an individual or couple who has made outstanding efforts to improve the bridle trail system on public lands. The nomination must be submitted to the Merit Awards Committee Chairperson by May 31 and must be signed by four (4) OHC members, each belonging to a different chapter. No more than one honoree will be selected each year. The Awards Committee will review all the submitted applications and recommend a recipient to the OHC Executive Cabinet for approval.
The 1st full weekend of August each year shall be known as the ‘Gibby Ride’ in honor of all annual recipients of this award. This ride is hosted by the State OHC who handles all the reservations. The current award will be presented on Saturday evening of this ride.
There is not a specific nomination form for this process. However, the nomination should include the nominee’s full name and chapter affiliation as well as the full name, chapter and contact information for the person submitting the nomination. Please include a narrative explaining why you feel this person or couple should win this award. The nomination along with any supporting information and the required signatures should be mailed to the Awards Committee Chair:
