Description
The 300-acre Van Buren State Park is quietly nestled in a small but valued remnant of woodland surrounded by beautiful corn, wheat and soybean fields. Four bridle trails with 12 miles pass through a beech/maple forest adjacent to Van Buren Lake. The trails are relatively flat and have a natural-surface treadway. The Horse Camp is a circular drive around a grassy area with lots of shade. There are 30 campsites, 9 with electric, potable water, high lines, picnic tables and restrooms available. Because of the popularity of these trails, check on park websites to see if you need a reservation for camping, particularly on weekends and holiday. Reservations through reserve.ohio.com
Wood County Chapter OHC supports and helps maintain these trails.
