Description
Barkcamp State Park has 27 electric sites in a large, shady campground for equestrians. There is a horse wash area, potable water, high lines and large pavillion for gathering together for dinner. Within walking distance is a large shower house and camp store for ice and snacks. The trails are well marked and depending on the trail, they are easy to challenging with views of Belmont Lake. There are 30 miles of trails are maintained by Belmont County OHC volunteers and is the site of the yearly “Gibby” ride in August.
Most of the trails are natural surface and meander through the forested hills and ravines overlooking Belmont Lake. This event requires reservation via Charlene Santee at santeecharlene@gmail.com or 740-670-3470
Easy – level or gently sloping terrain, consistent groomed surface; wide trail surface; shallow or no water crossings.
Moderate – Rolling to hilly terrain; short steeper slopes; water crossings; irregular trail surface; narrower trail widths.
Challenging – Steeper hills; unimproved trail surfaces, deeper or wider water crossings; boggy areas.
