About 20 miles of trails are maintained by the Jefferson Co. and Carroll Co. chapters of the Ohio Horseman’s Council. Most are narrow trails and can be steep in places. The trails are well-marked and shared with hike and bike although you will not see bike and maybe a few hikers picking berries or mushrooms. Dry in most areas but can be wet on Logan and Trillium. Look for bypasses around the wet areas. Trail condition during winter/wet weather: Muddy in some areas.
Roads leading to horseman’s camp are curvy and a few steep, go slow and you’ll be happy when you get to the large, shady campground!
Overnight camping. More than 50 sites with 5 having electric. First come, first served. Tie lines available but not enough for 50 rigs; bring your own and tree savers. Day riders may park in the ‘old’ horseman’s camp off Rt 43 or park in the lot across from the ball fields, below the dam overflow or at the beach area behind the beach, towards the back of the parking area near a port a potty.
