The Sassafras Horse Trail at Slate Run Metro Park in Asheville is a 2.5 mile one-way/loop combination trail that goes through hardwood forests and open meadows on grass, dirt or gravel treadways. This trail is relatively flat with a shallow creek crossing. The trailhead is a gravel parking lot big enough for at least 5 trailers. It has restrooms and picnic tables but no other amenities.
