There are over 2600 acres of uninterrupted hardwood forest sprawling over the hills, ravines, and coves on the east side of Dow Lake. Eight different trails totaling 21 miles wind there way through this terrain on primitive, single-track, natural-surface treadways. There are steep and or long climbs, and many shallow stream crossings. Note: there are separate mountain bike trails that cross the bridle trail at 5 different locations. Trails are marked with orange blazes and lettered signs at intersections. Refer to map and Trail Description in gallery for details. The trailhead is a gravel parking area at the end of Lake Hill Rd. There are 7 primitive campsites with no amenities. The Athens County Chapter OHC supports and maintains these trails.
