The Kinderhook bridle trails are located in the unglaciated steep hills and deep valleys on the northern shore of the Ohio River east of Marietta. The terrain is mostly hardwood forests with some brushland and fields. The trails are single-track with natural surfaces. There are some steep or long climbs and several water crossings. There is a primitive horse camp with high lines and restrooms. The requirement for a permit for equestrian use was temporarily waived 3/18. The trails are closed to horse use from December 16 to April 14 each year.
