This 9,000 acre state forest, named after a Native-American trail which ran from Chillicothe to Portsmouth, lies within the Scioto River valley.  There are 26 miles of multi-use trails which wind through the forested hills and valleys of the forest on primitive, single-track natural-surface treadways.  There are some steep or long climbs and many shallow stream crossings.  These trails are shared by equestrians, hikers and mountain bikers.  There are two trailheads large enough for horse trailers.  Both have dirt/stone surfaces…
